Discovering Ithaka

Captain Chip and his Best Mate, Michele, set off to Discover Ithaka. The name of their 40' trawler, named for the Greek Island as described in a poem by Cavafy; his interpretation of Homer's epic describing Odysseus' quest to find his "home", the home of his heart. (see post 06/18/08 to read poem) Together they will circumnavigate the entire eastern United States; also known as The Great Circle Loop...nearly 6500 miles in all. Each day experiencing the journey to the "home" of their hearts.

Florida...Here We Come!

The sun is shining and we will FINALLY be sleeping in Florida tonight!

~After 5 days in Mobile...and 4 more days here in Gulf Shores; we are finally heading out this morning, under a sky of blue. "I know I have a pair of sunglasses around here somewhere"! It's chilly outside, but the sun is expected to shine for the next few days.

Ithaka is homeward bound.
