You are my Sunshine

You are my Sunshine
...my only sunshine...
you make me happy, when skies are grey,
you'll never know dear
how much I love you...
Please don't take my sunshine away.

Our dear friends on Motor Trawler Sunshine crossed their wake at 9:35 AM yesterday, Sunday April 26th, and called us immediately after...We are so thrilled for you Bud, Muriel and Shelly --and we feel so blessed to have shared a part of of our "loop" with the three of you last summer. We will never forget Canada, 2008!

Godspeed, till we meet again.

The Longest Wait

For the past two Springs I have been eagerly preparing for our Summer adventure aboard Ithaka, but not this year. A week into April, and by now I would have been making my lists and organizing charts, putting aside the books I intend to read while away, dusting off the art supplies...researching the marinas we would be staying at, the gunk holes where we would anchor and "googling" the cities and towns along the way where we hope to explore. But, it looks like we will be enjoying our Summer here in beautiful Naples instead...We do not want to travel into the Gulf of Mexico during hurricane season, so we are estimating our 2009 departure to be somewhere closer to mid-September this year. This is the longest we have been without Ithaka...although we are much too busy at work right now to enjoy her anyway, it will be nice to see her out in the back yard again when we get back home at the end of this journey. Chip actually suggested the other day that we just fly up to Chicago in June and cruise back up Lake Michigan and stop at all the places we missed last year...then go back again the following year to bring her home. I must admit, for a moment I considered this as an option...It is so lovely there...it would definitely be a great way to spend the Summer. He also thought that maybe we could cruise during the summer months down to Tennessee, then go back in the late Fall and arrive home in time for the holidays...make it 4 legs instead of three. That also sounds intriguing. I guess it mostly depends on business. For now we are grateful to be very busy...makes the longest wait go by quickly...Ah, I think I am ready for a peaceful sunset aboard Ithaka...
